After
forty some odd years I reconneted with the people from my youth. I admit
that I was dragged into this situation, kicking and screaming, by my closest
friends and family. It seemed that everyday one was prompting me to become
a member of "Facebook".
It
seemed to me to be far too interactive a site for a serious songwriter
to promote themself and I avoided it until it simply became inevitable.
Within
a few hours I was accosted by a 'deluge' of names that conjured up memories
both good and bad while I puzzeled over trying to connect the new
millenium faces I was shown to those names that I recalled. I began to
realize that somehow all of these 'kids' that I spent, or misspent, my
youth surrouned by had also grown up.
I
also was faced with the harsh reality that there were those who had not
grown up.
And
then the name, Albert Vagnozzi appeared in the familiar "friend request".
I knew of Albert. He was a classmate in the neighborhood Catholic Parochial
School of my older brother. I was in the same class as his younger brother.
In this small crowded ethnic Italian enclave, this was not an uncommon
situation. I recalled both of these 'boys' as being the sort you would
not think twice about allowing your little sister to date. Bright, witty,
polite and very personable. I soon found that Albert had not lost any of
these characteristics. If anything he had developed them into a clear and
interesting writing style and he makes these thoughts available to anyone
who cares to take the time to read them.
